Established in 1653, Kennebunkport is an astoundingly picturesque town in York County, ME, with a population of 3,720 as of the 2000 census.


The town centre is located along the Kennebunk River, approximately one-half mile (1 km) from the mouth of the river on the ocean. Historically a fishing village, in recent decades the town has become a popular seaside tourist destination with a small district of souvenir shops, art galleries, seafood restaurants, hotels, inns, and bed & breakfasts.
